Next Release

Next release is currently being worked on under the feature/refactor branch. Aim is September release.

This is a significant refactor to support a port to tinygo for embedded and low memory devices.

New Features

• Netware 3.x NCP File Server Support
• Client support AFP, SMB, NCP and EtherDFS
• Experimental Netbook (atboot) support - adapted from @elliotnunn's work - https://github.com/elliotnunn/NetBoot/
• WinFSB support (and soon fuse)
• TinyGo build support
• More Fork adaptors, including AppleSingle, xattr, NTFS Alternate Data Streams (ie Service for Macintosh style) and derez

Improvements

• Support for SMB Extended attributes to make OS/2 WPS work properly
• Better handling of short/medium and long file names
• Native end-to-end test clients for Windows 3.1, Win32 and MacOS
• AFP session management (kick a client or send them a message).

Planned Features

• FUSE Client via cgofuse
• More comprehensive end-to-end testing with real clients

TODO

• Web UI is a mess. Code wise an interface. Redo it so it's easier to use
• New Distribution with Win16, Win32 and OS/2 toys
• SMB over TCP, AFP over DSI
• Test, test and more testing
• TAP-bridge support

Embedded support

• Put ESP32 hardware together
• Put RP2350 hardware together
• Get Luckfox build out
• Test the OpenWRT support (MIPS build FTW!)

Next steps

Keen to get a release out, but lots more testing is needed before I'm prepared to do so

There's been a few regressions sneak in so:

• More comprehensive AFP testing (especially outside of Finder)
• Re-test all the fork engines
• Re-test the MacIPX routing
• Re-test all the SMB clients across all the protocols
• Re-test attribute handling, short names, medium names - add test cases for all
• Test Mac Builds (need to borrow a modern mac!)
