official rm-sync sync trigger / modified status

Hey,

I'm wondering if somebody knows what the official remarkable sync uses to determine that a file has been modified and is ready for sync. I've found a timestamp in the metadata files under xochitl but it seems that the file is only written into and not read from. I've tested that for the last page opened valuen in the metadata file to see the effect.

I'm pretty sure xochitl uses its internal document state tree to determine when a doc has changed, then signals the rm_sync service to sync it.

Thanks for the answer. So i guess there is no way to trigger the sync programmatically? I was thinking about writing a script that modifies a documents before the 50 days of free sync expire.

Yes, i‘m aware. I didn’t know where to ask elsewhere. Currently, I have no good option to self-host but might have to use that instead soon. I think the official connect service is totally overpriced, especially if one only uses the sync feature.

I‘m fine with receiving no help on my question. However, as far as i know i‘m not violating anything in remarkable‘s account agreement. One could open any document / notebook on the device, scribble on it and get it synced indefinitely. Additionally, duplicating a document „resets“ the 50 days. I‘m aware that these actions would be manual.

For what it’s worth, I‘ve paid for Connect+
for years, only ever using the sync feature. The recent 33% price increase, mostly driven by costs of AI features that I don’t want to use, is a reason for me to cancel the subscription. I think it’s understandable that paying 3,99 for syncing a few gigabytes is definitely overpriced.
