Tanstack Mutations

Hi @kotleni, I am inspecting the code in signIn and noticing the use of mutations. Can you plz help me to understand how they are better than regular async functions? I tried reading the documentation but it seems bloated, I could also ask AI but I think direct communication is more important and I will rely on it later if you don't have time to discuss that.

My main question is how it is better than just async functions?

Hey.
Mainly - a mutation handles the entire lifecycle and UI state of that request and also can do configurable auto retries.

But with regular async functions you need to handle all of that manually.

Oh, am I right that it helps to avoid loading, error, success variables? And instead of them you only have this 'mutation' variable

Kinda yes. You often would implement all this by yourself.
