Resources: curated registry of free tools and open materials #78

Description

@shreekardittakavi

Spec: SDR 3.8.1 — "The system shall direct users to free online tools and materials related to the topic." Doc tech stack: "Better to limit resources to specific sites, maybe some textbook repositories."

Scope

  • A curated, allowlisted registry of free study resources (OpenStax, Khan Academy, MIT OCW, Paul's Online Math Notes, Desmos, Wolfram Alpha, arXiv, LibreTexts, etc.), each tagged by subject area.
  • Match registry entries to a class or topic and surface them alongside video recommendations.
  • Store the registry as data in the repo, not as model output — an LLM inventing a URL that 404s is worse than a short, correct list.
  • Optional: pull required textbooks parsed from the syllabus (SDR 3.4.1) and link to free/open equivalents where one exists.

Acceptance criteria

  • A class page and the Resources page both surface matching curated tools
  • Every link in the registry resolves (add a check, even a manual one)
  • Adding a new resource is a data edit, not a code change
