Intel macOS: External Screen Capture Fails During Realtime Voice Due to Missing Computer Use Helper

Problem

During realtime voice, the assistant can identify the active Codex task, but it cannot capture external applications such as Slack.

External application capture consistently returns:

Could not capture the foreground app.

Troubleshooting Completed

I have completed the following troubleshooting:

• Enabled Screen & System Audio Recording permission for the application.
• Fully quit and reopened the application after granting permission.
• Retested with both Codex and Slack as the foreground application.
• Reviewed local application logs.
• Inspected the application's configured helper locations.
• Downloaded and inspected the newer Intel package identified through the update feed configured in the installed application.
• I have not installed the newer package because I wanted to preserve the current environment while documenting the issue.

Evidence

Application logs show the following error when the capture worker starts:

Failed to spawn managed Computer Use service

The logs indicate that Appshots and Computer Use are enabled, but neither a screenshot nor accessibility text is returned.

The installed application's code appears to expect the following helper application:

Codex Computer Use.app

with the executable:

Contents/MacOS/SkyComputerUseService

I checked the expected bundled and canonical helper locations, and this helper was not present.

I also inspected the newer Intel package:

Version: 26.908.70816
Build: 9275

That package does not appear to contain either:

Codex Computer Use.app

or

SkyComputerUseService

Expected Behavior

When Screen & System Audio Recording permission is enabled, realtime voice should be able to capture the foreground external application when that functionality is supported.

Actual Behavior

Capture of external applications fails with:

Could not capture the foreground app.

The application logs simultaneously report failure to start the managed Computer Use service.
