About me

Hi! I'm Steve, and I'm a freelance scientist and engineer specializing in modeling solutions for scientific applications. I need open-source tools to do my best work. I'm here to contribute to those projects, and I'm humbly asking for your support for me to spend my time and effort to do so.

What I do

Since 2019, I've developed and maintained an open-source project called Neural Amp Modeler (NAM), which uses neural networks to emulate (model) the sound of musical effects (most notably, electric guitar amps). This project directly supports fantastic products from tens of businesses in the music industry as well as countless other creators who use it to make and share models of their favorite gear.

I'd like for this project to support the music industry as best as possible. To do this, there's a long to-do list including chasing down bugs from a worldwide user base, improving documentation so that builders know how to use NAM, and carefully developing improvements that make NAM better while stewarding its position as an industry standard.

My work isn't limited to NAM. There are many open-source projects on whose shoulders NAM stands, and I'd love for the opportunity to give back to them as well. Improving them will enable NAM to work even better!
