Building useful software, openly

I'm Michael Gasperini, the developer behind TheStreamCode and the founder of Mikesoft.

I build practical open-source software around problems I encounter in real work: developer tools, VS Code extensions, AI-assisted workflows, MCP servers, local-first applications, and products that give people meaningful ownership of their data and tools.

My current work includes:

  • Super CLI and a family of cross-platform VS Code launchers for AI coding agents;
  • the Chutes developer ecosystem, spanning a coding agent, model access, media generation, usage monitoring, and integrations;
  • Agentic R&D and MCP tools for structured, safer AI-assisted work;
  • privacy-aware products such as Keysoft, Mikesoft TeamVault, and EasyPIVA.

What sponsorship makes possible

Client projects and professional collaborations are an important part of my work. GitHub Sponsors serves a different purpose: it helps me reserve recurring, protected time for the open-source side.

That time goes toward:

  • maintaining compatibility as platforms, APIs, editors, and operating systems change;
  • investigating bugs and shipping focused fixes;
  • improving documentation, examples, onboarding, and release quality;
  • strengthening testing, safety guardrails, and cross-platform behavior;
  • maintaining existing tools while developing new open-source projects;
  • covering modest project costs such as domains, package publishing, and development infrastructure.

The aim is not to make projects bigger for the sake of it. It is to keep useful software dependable, understandable, and available to the people who rely on it.

What the community receives

Sponsorship supports work that remains broadly useful:

  • maintained tools and clearer release notes;
  • better documentation and practical examples;
  • faster compatibility updates when upstream tools change;
  • new experiments that can become focused open-source products;
  • a sustainable path for small projects that solve real problems well.

There is no obligation to sponsor. Using the projects, reporting a useful issue, sharing them, contributing code, or simply following the work are all valuable forms of support.

Professional collaboration

I am also available for freelance projects, consulting, product development, developer tooling, AI workflow work, and full-remote, async-first opportunities.

If your company needs dedicated engineering or a tailored solution, sponsorship is not a substitute for a commercial engagement. You can contact me directly at info@mikesoft.it or through Mikesoft.

Thank you

If one of my tools has saved you time, improved your workflow, or helped your team, sponsoring is a meaningful way to support its continued maintenance and the next useful project.

Thank you for being part of the work.

@TheStreamCode

Reaching 25 monthly sponsors would create a dependable weekly block for open-source maintenance, documentation, compatibility updates, releases, and new practical tools. The value is not only the amount—it is the predictable time that recurring support makes possible.
