When invoked in both Chrome and Edge (using the Tabby share button), the options are extremely limited and don't allow the user to select a different channel from the ones shown. In my case, I cannot even select email as a generic channel, or Google Chat, or popular SM channels. Here is what it looks like on my PC:
Experimenting with an actual webpage, I tried Edge's native browser share option (Chrome does not appear to have this). When I used share via the browser, I was given more options: Outlook, Gmail, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter. The ability to choose an option not shown is noticeably absent here as well. This is what it looks like:
This presents some questions that need researching, and eventually identify a method of sharing that gives the user more options, or the ability to choose options not shown.
- Is the difference in Edge between Tabby's share function and Edge's browser function because Tabby isn't technically a page/URL? Or are there real differences between the browser share function and what we are invoking?
- Is there a better or different method of sharing than what is in place currently, that would give the user more options?
- Is Chrome really lacking a native share function? I can only find generate a QR code and share with my devices. Nothing to share externally to other sources.
