Drone Engineer — Computer Vision, Deep Learning & Machine Learning for Defense

Mechanical engineer with two decades of engineering behind me — 15+ of them in offshore oil & gas: subsea operations, marine propulsion (Rolls-Royce, SCHOTTEL), compressor package engineering (Sauer), vessel maintenance and project management in environments where equipment failure is not an option.

There's a straight line running through that career: making machines watch machines. Predictive maintenance with oil and vibration analysis. Online remote monitoring of critical equipment that extended docking intervals by 25%. R&D planning for remote inspection of oil platforms in operation. For years I built systems that detect failure before humans can — now I'm taking that thread to its next form: computer vision and deep learning for unmanned systems of any domain — aerial, ground, surface or subsea — applied to the defense sector.

I'm building the transition in public, one commit at a time.

What I'm building

  • article-forge — AI-powered Python pipeline that turns a topic into a publish-ready MDX blog article: SEO conflict check, metadata, writing, automated QA and translations. My training ground for pipeline architecture, LLM API integration and disciplined engineering docs (ADRs, Conventional Commits).
  • UAV Drone Academy — educational platform on drones and unmanned systems: multilingual blog (EN · PT-BR · ES · UK) and a YouTube channel.

  • From remote inspection and condition monitoring to perception systems: teaching machines to see what I spent years inspecting
