🚧 Hyperspeedcube 2.0 is a work-in-progress 🚧

Hyperspeedcube is currently undergoing a major rewrite. See the v1 branch for the stable version.

Hyperspeedcube logo

Hyperspeedcube is a modern, beginner-friendly 3D and 4D Rubik's cube simulator with thousands of puzzles, customizable mouse and keyboard controls, and a domain-specific scripting language for creating new puzzles. It has been used to break numerous speedsolving records and is the software of choice in the Hypercubing community.

LLM policy

Hyperspeedcube is the pet project of me, Andrew Farkas. My views on LLMs are evolving, and are currently best captured by sixfold's "There is a Wave on the Horizon". Please read that before you judge. I am using Hyperspeedcube to learn how to swim.

That being said, the individual lines of code of Hyperspeedcube are currently and will continue to be almost entirely human-written. My use of LLMs on Hyperspeedcube is likely to be limited to refactoring, debugging, and brainstorming. Documentation will always use my own words; users will never need to read LLM output.

There is an abundance of low-quality vibe-coded puzzle simulators, and Hyperspeedcube will not be one of those.

License & contributing

This project is licensed under MIT OR Apache v2.0. If you create a derivative work that uses the Hyperspeedcube puzzle simulator as a major component, please prominently credit HactarCE / Andrew J. Farkas.

Hyperspeedcube is the product of the majority of my free time over the course of many years. I provide it free of charge to the Hypercubing community because I want puzzles to be accessible. If you want to make something using it, especially if you wish to monetize it, please contact me at hello@ajfarkas.dev. I legally cannot stop you from selling a derivative work using Hyperspeedcube, but it would be rude not to ask me first.
