The repo currently does not document a frontend component-library preference.
Codify it in CLAUDE.md.

Acceptance criteria

• CLAUDE.md exists at the repository root.
• It contains a short section that states:
  • Prefer shadcn/ui components when implementing UI features.
  • When a shadcn component does not fit, document the reason in the PR description.
• Out of scope: do not add shadcn as a dependency, do not write example components.

Notes

This is a docs-only change. One file touched. Workflow is multi-phase
(plan review → approved → PR review).

Plan for #5

Goal

Document a frontend component-library preference in CLAUDE.md: prefer shadcn/ui when implementing UI features, and require contributors to justify in the PR description whenever a shadcn component does not fit. Docs-only change — no dependency added, no example component written.

Approach

1. Edit CLAUDE.md. Add a short subsection titled "Component library preference" inside the existing #### 5. UI Layer (ui/src/) section, placed immediately after the Key patterns bullet list (around line 169) so it sits with other UI conventions. The subsection contains two bullets:
   • Prefer shadcn/ui components when implementing UI features.
   • When a shadcn component does not fit, document the reason in the PR description.

Files to touch

• CLAUDE.md (insert the new "Component library preference" subsection inside the UI Layer section; no other edits)

Test plan

• Visual diff review: open CLAUDE.md and confirm the new subsection is present, well-formed Markdown, and the two required statements are there verbatim.
• git diff should show only additions to CLAUDE.md — no other files modified, no package.json / ui/ source touched, no shadcn dependency added.
• No code tests apply (docs-only).

Risks / open questions

• Placement: I chose to nest this under the UI Layer section so it lives next to the other UI conventions. An alternative is a top-level "Frontend conventions" section. Happy to relocate if the reviewer prefers a more prominent spot.
• Wording: I will keep wording close to the acceptance-criteria phrasing to avoid drift. If a slightly different tone is desired, flag it in review.

PR #6 on branch claude/issue-5-shadcn-pref has failing checks; symphony is moving this issue back to Rework so the agent can fix without manual gate.

Blocked — need maintainer direction before re-handoff. PR #6's red CI is pre-existing on dev itself; the same Lint / Test / Cloudflare Pages checks fail on dev's own CI run (24609663559), and a 4-line Markdown edit to CLAUDE.md cannot have caused them. Fixing them (reformat 64 source files, add pytest-cov to [dev] extras, debug Cloudflare Pages) is well outside this issue's explicit "docs-only, no dependency changes" scope. Please pick: (A) merge PR #6 manually since the diff is harmless, or (B) confirm scope expansion to green CI as part of this issue.
