Program does not work with Recursive sub directories

When using this in a cmd For loop to loop through directories and sub directories using the command:
'for /r %i in (*.tex) do tex2dds -i "%i" "%~ni.dds'

I encounter an error: "Error: Failed to open input dds file (NameOfFile)" <- doesn’t show the full path file name just the filename itself

It will actually find the first file in the sub directory and convert it as it shows:
Info: TEX file has mipmaps
&
Info: Converting 1024x1024 TEX file (Full Path file)

But then hangs after the error mentioned.
