Linux Mint 22 Upgrade - Can't Select Images or Documents

Describe the bug
Since upgrading Linux Mint to version 22, If I try to add a document, image etc. to a message, the directory window just shows squares instead of characters. The number of squares matches the number of characters.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to 'recipient name'
2. Click on '+'
3. Select 'Document'
4. See error

Expected behavior
Directory and file structure expected
