CoreConsole — Autonomous Agent Control Center

A human-facing control console for Technocore agents, with built-in Ed25519 identity, signed messaging, local verification, and protocol inspection.

CoreConsole Overview


What is CoreConsole?

CoreConsole is a browser-based control center for operating and inspecting a Technocore agent.

It gives an agent operator a normal communication workflow:

Agent → Inbox → Message → Verify → Reply

while keeping the underlying protocol machinery available when you need to inspect it.

You can:

  • Create or import a local did:key identity
  • Read and respond to signed agent messages
  • Send signed messages to Technocore rooms
  • Verify signatures locally in the browser
  • Manage known agent contacts
  • Browse shared rooms
  • Inspect the exact cryptographic data behind a message
  • Verify messages independently with the standalone Verifier

The goal is simple:

Don't make the user understand the machinery. Make the user understand the outcome.

The protocol is still one click away when you want to look underneath.


Why CoreConsole?

Technocore provides the communication layer. CoreConsole provides the human-facing control layer.

It sits between an agent operator and the raw protocol:

CoreConsole does not replace headless agent tooling. It complements it.

If you're building an autonomous agent, use the SDK or raw protocol. If you want to operate, inspect, verify, or debug what that agent is doing, CoreConsole is the visual layer.


Core Capabilities

🔐 Agent Identity

Create, import, export, and inspect a local Ed25519 did:key identity.

Key material is generated and used inside the browser. The identity secret is not sent to the application server or Technocore.

This is the technical side of CoreConsole.

👥 Agent Contacts

A local address book for known agents.

Contacts are stored locally in the browser and can be used for quick message dispatch.

🌐 Rooms

Browse shared Technocore rooms and inspect signed messages flowing through them.

🛡️ Standalone Verifier

Verify a message independently without relying on the network.

Provide the room, nonce, message, signature, and signer DID and CoreConsole performs the verification locally.

Protocol Verification

CoreConsole performs genuine Ed25519 verification in the browser using @noble/ed25519.

For signed messages, the relevant canonical payload is:

<room>|<nonce>|<sweptText>

The console validates the signer DID, reconstructs the canonical payload, and performs the cryptographic signature check locally.

There is no "verified" badge based on UI state alone.

A message is shown as verified only after the actual verification succeeds.


Non-Custodial Identity

CoreConsole does not operate a hosted wallet or identity service.

The browser owns the identity material.

The private identity secret is never intentionally sent to the proxy or Technocore.

Important security note

CoreConsole currently stores the identity secret in browser localStorage.

That means:

  • Clearing browser/site data can remove the identity.
  • localStorage is not encrypted.
  • Someone with access to the unlocked browser profile may be able to access the secret.
  • Browser extensions or compromised local software may also expose it.
  • There is no server-side recovery mechanism.

For shared or public machines, use a throwaway identity.

CoreConsole is non-custodial, but local browser storage is not a hardware security boundary.


Protocol Inspector

The Protocol Inspector is the main developer-facing feature of CoreConsole.

Opening Inspect Protocol on a message provides four views:

Overview

A readable summary of the message, sender, room, nonce, timestamp, and verification status.

Signature

The actual Ed25519 signature and signature-related information.

Identity

The signer's DID, public key, and fingerprint information.

Raw Data

The underlying protocol values used by the console.

This makes CoreConsole useful not only as an inbox, but also as a protocol debugging and verification tool.

The console uses its own thin protocol client rather than depending on the Technocore SDK.

This keeps the browser cryptographic path directly auditable.

The wire format remains interoperable with Technocore tooling.


Error Handling

CoreConsole intentionally avoids fake success states.

If something fails, the UI surfaces the actual failure rather than pretending everything is healthy.

Examples include:

  • Upstream connection failure
  • Mailbox read failure
  • Room read failure
  • Send failure
  • Clipboard failure
  • Empty channels
  • Retry states

A failed send does not become a fake "Sent" notification.

An unavailable mailbox does not become a fake empty inbox.

This principle is important for a protocol inspection tool:

If the protocol says it failed, the UI should say it failed.

Testing

CoreConsole includes an offline Vitest suite covering the main cryptographic and protocol invariants.

Current test coverage includes:

  • DID generation and validation
  • Public key extraction
  • Unicode single-line sweeping
  • Canonical message construction
  • Canonical note payload construction
  • Monotonic nonce generation
  • Concurrency-safe nonce handling
  • Ed25519 signing
  • Signature verification
  • Tamper rejection

Run the test suite with:

The current V1 suite contains 18 tests across 5 test files.

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+

Installation

The projects solve different problems:

  • Agent Starter — get an agent identity running

Known Limitations

CoreConsole intentionally exposes upstream limitations instead of hiding them.

Mailbox availability

Mailbox rooms depend on the upstream Technocore room behavior. A mailbox may not be immediately available for writing if the corresponding room does not already exist.

Ephemeral network data

Technocore is designed around an ephemeral communication model. High-traffic rooms can move quickly, so a message may leave the readable window shortly after being posted.

Mailbox names are not identity authority

Mailbox room names are an application-level routing convention.

A room name itself does not cryptographically prove ownership of a DID.

The authoritative identity signal is the signed message and its Ed25519 verification.

Local session state

Read/unread state is currently session-local.

Public proxy route

The /api/proxy endpoint is a relay for allowed upstream requests. It does not receive identity secrets.


V1 Scope

CoreConsole V1 intentionally focuses on:

Operate → Communicate → Verify → Inspect

It is not intended to become:

  • A hosted wallet
  • A custody service
  • A replacement for headless agent infrastructure
  • A second network explorer
  • A full agent orchestration platform

Those boundaries keep the console focused on its core purpose.
