VBR MP3s crash the UI

Same happened on MZ-RH1 using Sony 1GB HI-MD and TDK MD formatted to HI-MD.

All works normal, MP3s get written to the drive but after last one gets loaded I am getting this chain of error:

After that I an unable to access any of the MD and the player throws AuFileERROR.
None of the drives appear in file explorer - no detection from Windows.
I am also unable to reformat or erase MDs.

Is there any way to recover the MDs? especially the 1GB one?

@wnodzykowski To recover the discs, format them from the HiMD device itself - go to Edit, then Format.
About the error itself though, this gets triggered when you write MP3s?

@asivery Thank you for the response. I managed to format both MDs, it was tricky as I have faulty screen waiting for replacement.

As to the error I managed to narrow it down to a specific MP3 that is strange 80kbps???:

Have not noticed before as the rest of the files in the folder I was uploading were "normal" 192kbps.
When writing this MP3 it crashes as described.
Not sure if it is due to the nonstandard bitrate or something wrong with this specific MP3. I can share the file for testing if needed.

@wnodzykowski Ah, VBR MP3s crash - got it. Makes sense that this would do it. Thanks, I should have a fix for this soon. I'll keep you updated.

@asivery I have tested the new build and so far:

1. Program does not crash anymore when uploading VBR file.
2. MZ-RH1 reads and play the problematic file no problem, HI-MD can be access via Electronwmd - all good.
3. MZ-RH10 however can read disk name, song name, artist etc. but when attempting to play the file it shows Can'tPLAY error. Also if the HI-MD only contains that file it cannot access created HI-MD via Electronwmd in HI-MD mode - just hangs on loading disk. (When using "normal mode" just says no disk as expected). If before the file there is another normal bitrate file, disk can be access via Electronwmd.

Very confusing as technically there should be no difference between those players?

I created HI-MD with problematic file using both MZ-RH1 and MZ-RH10 and in both situation same result. MZ-RH1 no problems with the disk. MZ-RH10 Can'tPLAY error and Electronwmd hangs on loading disk when using HI-MD mode.

Is it possible something is wrong with the MZ-RH10? So far it had no issues with it, plays rest of my HI-MDs without problems.

@wnodzykowski Regarding the RH10 not being to play VBR files: That's expected. The RH1 is the only player which supports them. I will mention that on the upload screen.
I'll try to replicate the bug where a single VBR MP3 file causes the app to hang. That shouldn't happen.

@asivery Now all make sense, sorry I am quite new to all of that.

Probably it should prop you about no VBR support and mark them on the list of tracks as VBR so can be easy to find and removed from the upload list if needed.

I think this issue has been resolved.

@wnodzykowski Not yet. The presence of a VBR track should not prevent the app from reading the disc. HiMD access from ElectronWMD is not bound by the same constraints as the RH10's playback. The track list should still be displayed
