Created for APS112: Engineering Strategies & Practice II (2024 Winter) at the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, University of Toronto
Engineering Strategies and Practice (ESP) is a multidisciplinary first-year engineering design course at the University of Toronto. My team worked on developing a device for FHR monitoring during twin and triplet pregnancies, which also addresses shortcomings of the current ultrasound-based solution, such as being highly sensitive to fetal movement.
I developed a numerical simulation so as to validate the proposed signal processing algorithm. The algorithm makes use of basic signal processing techniques, such as converting to the frequency domain and triangulation. It is capable of replicating a wide variety of scenarios, such as different numbers of fetuses, time-varying heart rates, as well as moving sources.
