A unit of value for distributing resources inside Drayker and relating them to economies outside it.

One unitary form of value in the capacity economy.

Dktron is one proposed unitary form within Drayker's family of value units. It can be used in the non-deterministic distribution of resources inside the system and may also operate as a currency in external markets. One of its intended functions is to convert donations received in foreign currencies around the world into a single Drayker unit, with its own stabilization and economic mechanisms.

The problem it addresses

Relating needs, resources, donations and external obligations to a distributed organization needs a common value language that preserves provenance, purpose and accountable rules. Otherwise every allocation becomes an opaque negotiation, and negotiations favour whoever is loudest.

How it works today. Money often loses context as it moves, so intent has to be reconstructed or enforced by whoever happens to hold it.

What would change. A Dktron can represent and move an allocation after a contextual, non-deterministic decision, link it to its source, purpose, permissions and review path, and provide a common conversion layer for donations and lawful external exchange. The decision to expand someone's or a project's capacity still depends on context and member governance, not on mere ownership of the unit.

Why the rest depends on it. The system needs a way to distribute resources and interface with outside economies without letting money buy position, reputation or automatic priority inside Drayker.

Where this stands

The least public part of the system. Drayker has internal material on the economic ecosystem, and what is public is the reasoning on the Economy page rather than a specification. DAF federative points are a separate, non-transferable ledger for one governance experiment. General reputation is a contextual memory of relationship. Dktron is a third object: a unit of value that may carry resource distributions, connect foreign-currency donations to one system unit, and participate in external markets.

The internal material describes a possible economy. It demonstrates no implementation, issued currency, validated monetary policy, stabilization mechanism, liquidity, audit, financial governance or capacity to sustain anyone's income. It is worth being exact about the order of work here: the first validation is still an accounting one. A transparent record of contributions, needs, decisions and accountability must precede an operating unit. Dk optimizes none of it until the human rules have been written down by people.

Nothing described here is implemented. This repository exists so that the first document about it has somewhere to live and someone can argue with it in public.

Scope

  • Dktron as one unitary form in the wider family of value units
  • Non-deterministic distribution of resources, under contextual and contestable rules
  • Use as a currency in lawful external markets
  • Conversion of donations from foreign currencies into one Drayker unit
  • Stabilization, monetary and economic mechanisms to be specified and validated
  • Provenance, purpose, permissions and accountable review
  • An accounting record before an operating unit
  • Relation to the internal capacity economy without reducing capacity to ownership of currency
  • Separation from DAF federative points and general member reputation
  • Rules linked to the instrument and revisable through governance

Not in scope

  • An issued token or operating currency today.
  • An investment, guaranteed price, guaranteed convertibility or promise of return.
  • An operating distribution of resources today.
  • Any claim about income, support payments or sustaining anyone financially.
  • Automated allocation by Dk before the human rules are written down.
  • Buying member status, reputation, voting weight or priority with money.

How it fits the whole

How a common unit can carry resource decisions inside Drayker and connect them accountably to external economies.

Inside Drayker, owning currency does not buy member status, reputation, voting weight or automatic priority. Need, intention, reputation, knowledge, resources, risk, opportunity and consequence can inform a non-deterministic contextual allocation, subject to member governance and contestability. Dktron is one form that may represent and transport the resulting distribution, receive converted donations, and mediate lawful external exchange through mechanisms designed for stability. Dk may model options and consequences; it does not autonomously govern funds. DAF points remain a separate experimental ledger, and distributed support is the broader program for satisfying members' needs rather than a synonym for this unit.

First functions

These are concrete and unclaimed. Any of them can be opened as an issue and delivered by one person.

  1. Specify an experimental ledger of contributions, needs, decisions and accountability: who takes part, what the unit of record is, who reviews it, and what ends it. This is deliberately an accounting exercise, and it comes before everything else here.
  2. Specify the separation between Dktron, DAF points, contextual reputation and the decision that allocates capacity.
  3. Model one non-deterministic resource distribution end to end.
  4. Model donation conversion, external-market use and stabilization, including legal, monetary, liquidity and attack risks.
  5. Write down what the unit must never allow.

How to contribute

Read CONTRIBUTING.md and GOVERNANCE.md in the organization. In short: open or find an issue, say in the thread that you are taking it, branch as fn/<issue-number>-<short-name>, and open a pull request against master. There is no separate review branch.

Participation is voluntary and implies no compensation, employment or future claim.
