Install AuthCodeInput with its Frost UI and fQuery peers:

);@fr0st/ui and @fr0st/query are peer dependencies so the component shares the application's UI and fQuery instances. The package root, dist/*, and src/* are available through package exports.
AuthCodeInput requires a browser DOM or a compatible DOM environment configured through fQuery. Server-rendered applications should load the component on the client.
The ESM bundle imports @fr0st/ui and @fr0st/query. Frost UI and fQuery also require @fr0st/core, so map all three dependencies when loading the bundle directly in a browser:

</script>The UMD bundle adds AuthCodeInput to the existing globalThis.UI object. It expects globalThis.UI and globalThis.fQuery to exist before it loads. If the non-bundled Frost UI build is used instead, load fQuery, Frost UI, and AuthCodeInput in that order.
Start with a normal input. AuthCodeInput inserts the visible character inputs before it and keeps the original input synchronized for form submission:

A numeric length renders one uninterrupted group. An array inserts a vertical rule between segments. If the original input has a shorter valid maxlength, that value caps the rendered character count and produces one group.

- Generated inputs receive sequential labels from
getAriaLabel(index). - The first generated input uses
autocomplete="one-time-code"; remaining inputs useautocomplete="off". aria-describedby,aria-errormessage,aria-invalid, andaria-requiredare copied from the original input.- Native
requiredstate is copied only when the original input is required. - The original
inputmodeis preserved. Without one, the default[0-9]expression usesnumeric; other expressions usetext. - Focus is redirected to the next incomplete input, and unavailable future positions are removed from the tab order.
- The original input remains the submitted form field and is visually hidden while the component is active.
- Disposal restores the original input's pre-existing hidden state and
tabindexwhile preserving its other classes.
Applications remain responsible for meaningful labels, instructions, error messages, and validation feedback. Use getAriaLabel when “Character 1” through “Character N” is not appropriate for the surrounding language or context.
Set autoSubmit: true to call requestSubmit() on the closest form when user input or paste completes every generated field:

});requestSubmit() follows the form's normal validation and submit-event path. Nothing is submitted when the input is outside a form. Programmatic setValue() updates the code without automatically submitting the form.
AuthCodeInput uses Frost UI's form, flex, spacing, typography, vertical-rule, and visibility utilities. It does not ship a separate stylesheet.
Frost UI follows the user's preferred color scheme by default. Set data-ui-theme="light" or data-ui-theme="dark" on the document or an ancestor to select a theme explicitly:
