Permission error

I'm running this on an Ubuntu machine. Everything seems to work but I can see that there's a permission error when the usb device is connected. Not on disconnect though. Any idea if I need to do something?

Same issue on Mint.. I did everything as described, but the only way to get rid of this permission error is to run as root

Verify that devices /dev/i2c* are owned by i2c group. If not then you must create i2c as a system group. Just remove the current group and create new one with command:
groupadd --system i2c
Add this group to your user and restart.
