Summary

  • Decouple playback clock from MCAP prefetch so slow reads no longer freeze progress and video together.
  • Add adaptive H264 backpressure with IDR resync, hardware-preferring WebCodecs config, and safer payload transfer for high-frequency image lanes.
  • Add H264 benchmark tooling, performance docs, and expanded unit/E2E coverage.

Test plan

  • npm test (644 passed)
  • npm run lint
  • npm run build
  • npm run test:e2e (37 passed)
  • npm run benchmark:h264 on representative MCAP files (episode_00344, episode_00340)
  • Manual verification on low-end Windows (Chrome / Edge / Firefox)

Decouple playback clock from MCAP prefetch, add adaptive H264 backpressure

so progress and video stay responsive under decode pressure.
