GIS & Remote Sensing Researcher | Earth Observation | Geospatial Data Science | UAV Remote Sensing | Environmental Monitoring
I am a Junior Research Fellow and PhD researcher at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. My research combines field ecology with GIS, UAV and satellite remote sensing, spatial analysis, data modelling and machine learning. I work on environmental questions involving coastal wetlands and blue-green infrastructure.
- GIS, remote sensing and Earth Observation for environmental monitoring
- UAV and satellite imagery, raster and vector analysis, and spatial statistics
- Reproducible analysis in R and Python
- QGIS, GeoPandas, Rasterio, Xarray, Google Earth Engine and XGBoost workflows
I created the Remote Sensing Scientist Academy, an open learning project that progresses from scientific Python to geospatial data science, UAV and satellite analysis, Google Earth Engine, and defensible machine-learning workflows.
The Academy repository contains its curriculum, lesson resources and source code.
- Remote Sensing Scientist Academy — practical GIS, remote sensing and Earth Observation education with reproducible portfolio projects.
- Assessment of Local Green Infrastructure in the Coastal Zone — R-based geospatial and statistical analysis of coastal green infrastructure, connectivity, fragmentation and environmental pressures.
- Web mapping — browser-based interactive mapping work using HTML, JavaScript, GeoJSON and Leaflet.
