Today, the steering group has 4 members which meet some reading of Qualifying Entity. We believe that Igalia meets the qualifying criteria as well.
For years we have been major contributors to one but all of the 3 main engines: Until just a year or two ago when Microsoft overtook us, we were the #2 contributors to chromium.. We are the #2 contributors to WebKit and are the maintainers of 3 of 5 ports in https://webkit.org/downloads/), and we have been among the top few contributors to Firefox every year as well (or place is more variable year to year). Additionally, we are the stewards of Servo and we distribute Wolvic, the main open source, cross device alternative XR browser. We are also among the top few contributors to the HTML specification.
It seems that if there is a case to be made that any org that is not already a member should be - I'm not sure who could have a better case.
We believe that expanding the diversity of interests in the SG would be a positive, and a positive signal.
